Meet Marcia

"Community service is the rent you pay for the time you stay."

Marcia Jensen learned this lesson early in life and was fortunate to be influenced by many strong women and men who set the example and mentored her along the way.

Her choice to serve, for 25 years so far, on the SWOCC board of education had been based on the premise that she can be of meaningful service to more students and more citizens of the community, with the limited amount of time she have available, by doing this particular volunteer work.

That experience, as well as 4H, taught Marcia the importance of community service, and hard work. She transitioned out of Coquille High School into a successful and varied business career, having owned and operated a sanitary service company and florist business, in addition to working in accounting, restaurant management and accounting. She has served in Zonta, Rotary and many other service clubs. In her youth, Marcia was named Coos County Fair and Rodeo Queen.
